1000 MORE allows average Americans to disrupt the big lobby by facilitating easy education on upcoming legislation, communication directly to elected officials, and crowdfunding advocacy efforts through our platform 1000more.com. 

The Team

We have a content team that consists of a social media expert and a marketing communications guru, a technology team that consists of a software developer and a talented digital expert, and the Founder & CEO. 

You will work closely with Founder and CEO D’Seanté Parks. She has over a decade of experience in strategic communications and political strategy for public, private, and non-profit organizations. After communicating with thousands of voters and community leaders, she is dedicating her time to developing a platform that makes politics accessible for all Americans.  You can read her full bio here.

The Role

As we ramp up customer acquisition, our team needs an intern who is eager to learn about start-ups and participate in supporting the marketing, communications, and operations work. 

This is an opportunity to work at a start-up learning from political and communications experts. In In this role you will: 

  • Conducting research and draft materials as needed 

  • Supporting social media to bring new audiences to our accounts

  • Supporting grant writing initiatives

  • Organizing data and resources 

  • Scheduling

  • Participating in weekly meetings 

  • Approximately 10 hours per week 

The Ideal Candidate

Technical ability 

    • Organized 

    • Strong writer 

    • Knowledgeable of politics

    • Experience with political research, social media and / or email marketing a plus

Passionate about civic empowerment

    • A strong desire to work on a team that is empowering traditionally marginalized people in the U.S. 

    • Some who values the nonpartisan aspect of the platform and this work

We are looking for someone who…

    • Is proactive, with a track record of task completion and follow-up 

    • Brings innate organizational skills and enthusiasm to their work

    • Pays attention to detail

    • A fast learner who can pick up on the changes to the platform as we iterate and new features go live

    • An exceptional communicator 

    • Understands how to engage professionally with different audiences, from elected officials, to advocacy organizations, to constituent users on different media, phone, email, and social. 

    • Loves a challenge and is solutions oriented, who using creative thinking to meet needs and solve problems

    • Already regularly consumes political news and social media

    • Understands nuance and complexity within the political landscape
